Why IT is the driving force
behind clinical research

Clinical research is essential to give patients access to the latest medical treatments that are not yet on the market. The success of these studies depends on proper patient recruitment: the right patients must be identified to participate in innovative therapies. The faster a patient is found, the faster a life-saving treatment can reach them.

Currently, this often happens through manual review of a patient files, a slow, error-prone process that consumes valuable physician time. With Monsana Assist, your medical staff can safely automate this process using AI, while retaining full control over the data.

How the process works

The implementation is designed to minimize impact on your schedule, requiring on average only 3–5 working days from your team, with no heavy integrations or direct system connections:

01

Patient Selection

Select relevant patients with a planned consultation from the consultation book,
mostly done by using an SQL query.

02

Collection of Medical Records

Collect the unstructured medical records in their existing/raw format for the selected patients in step

Optionally include structured data elements such as age, gender...

03

Pseudonymization

Option 1: Using the Monsana script

  1. Set up a Python environment.

  2. Run the pseudonymization script.

  3. Monsana can provide step-by-step support.

Option 2: use the hospital’s own in-house pseudonymization method.

04

Data transfer

Data can be provided in any format (Excel, CSV, PDF, JSON, etc.).
Eg. per patient a folder with tree PDFs, being 2 consultation reports and the lab results.

Data can be transferred via the hospital’s own server or through the Monsana platform

1. Are you able to define a patient cohort based on any of the following criteria? (Select all that apply)?
2. How are free-text consultation reports stored in your system?
3. Which pseudonimization would you prefer to use?
4. Which data transfer method would you prefer for sharing pseudonymized data?
